Clients in the News – February 2013
Here’s a report on what some of Avalon’s clients have been up to so far this year.
Also, two clients have reached big milestones this year: the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice marks its 40th anniversary in 2013, and the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force celebrates its 25th anniversary – stay tuned for more on these vital organizations’ anniversary-year plans.
- Our feel-good story of the month comes from Farm Sanctuary, which reports on its two newest babies, newborn lambs Zuri and Elizabeth. But the best part is the back story: the lambs’ mother Dolly’s rescue after being dumped at a Future Farmers of America farm with her mother, Polly. Dolly and Polly were clearly victims of severe neglect, and under the care of Farm Sanctuary veterinarians and staff, are showing remarkable improvement. And now they have Zuri and Elizabeth to enrich their lives even more. Read their full, heart-warming story here and see pictures of the adorable lambs.
- The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force is, once again, encouraging everyone to host an Oscars-watching party. And to make your party extra memorable, download the Task Force’s Oscar Party Kit here, with snack and cocktail recipes, Oscar Bingo, movie trivia, and more. As Executive Director Rea Carey wrote in her email, “And while you’re entertaining your guests, remind them of the many films that have chronicled our history, one of which is up for an Oscar this year. How to Survive a Plague tells the story of the brave women and men who fought to bring attention to HIV/AIDS and drove the pharmaceutical industry to look for a treatment and a cure.”
