Jenny joined the Avalon team in 1999 – first as program manager, working with clients like the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the League of Women Voters, the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, and Rails to Trails Conservancy.

She then honed her skills in the area of reporting and analysis, providing Avalon clients with strategy and budgeting expertise as strategic fundraising analyst, then as director of strategic development. During this period, Jenny authored Avalon’s Merlin by Avalon® performance reporting system, which remains a critical tool for Avalon fundraising teams and their clients.

In her current role, Jenny serves as Avalon’s chief strategy officer. In that capacity, she manages the company’s strategic plan, shepherds the implementation of that plan, and offers decision support to Avalon’s president and senior staff. In addition, she provides leadership for Avalon’s infrastructure, including controllership, financial planning, IT and general administration.

In addition to her fundraising and business experience, Jenny recently earned a Ph.D. from the University of Virginia, studying ethics in that school’s Department of Religious Studies. This background, her undergraduate business education, her experience and her long history with Avalon uniquely orient Jenny’s stewardship of Avalon’s mission and core values.

Jenny lives and works in Charlottesville, Virginia, but she frequents DC because she loves Avalon’s exceptional office culture. At home, she has a busy family life with her husband, Andy, and her three young children, Abe, Annie and Leo. In her spare time, Jenny catches as much live music as possible, reads avidly, and, whenever she can, escapes to her peaceful childhood home on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.
