Since co-founding Avalon Consulting Group, Inc. with Ann Herzog in 1997, Allison Porter has played an integral role in Avalon’s growth and development as a leading full-service, direct marketing fundraising agency. She is recognized across both the nonprofit and fundraising industries for her direct marketing expertise, creative fundraising strategies, and integrated, multi-channel approach to client programs.

Drawing on more than 16 years of direct marketing agency experience and a background in university development and public relations, she has built successful direct response fundraising programs for a wide range of Avalon clients, including The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the National Parks Conservation Association, the League of Women Voters and the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force.

Allison leads Avalon’s client service team, providing ongoing strategy and support to current clients, as well as managing new client development. She also plays a lead role in developing list and creative strategies for client acquisition programs.

Under Allison’s leadership, Avalon has expanded its online fundraising practice to be a fully integrated and robust component of Avalon’s client programs. Allison has also guided the expansion of Avalon’s analytical and reporting capabilities through the development of the Avalon Analytics^® division and Merlin by Avalon^® performance reporting system.

As a former board member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and a past president of the Women’s Direct Response Group of Washington, Allison is passionate about the profession of fundraising and the role of women in that profession. She is a frequent presenter at industry events and has taught a number of courses on direct response fundraising.

Allison is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Stoneleigh-Burnham School in Greenfield, MA. She lives in Annapolis, MD with her husband, Greg, and sons, Luke and Alex. In her spare time, Allison likes to sail, read, go running, and cheer on her kids at their soccer, basketball, and lacrosse games.
