The Avalon team had the opportunity to not only celebrate our national parks at the recent NPCA Salute to the Parks gala held at the Newseum, but we also had a chance to check out the Anchorman exhibit on display. Supporting our wonderful clients and the national parks AND snapping photos (see below) with life size cutouts of Ron Burgundy = a double win!
Check out the current Fundraising Success cover story, a piece on the League of Women Voters’ blockbuster package - a National Opinion Survey donor acquisition control. Fundraising Success is an influential website dedicated to multi-channel and integrated best practices, and we are thrilled to see it highlight the League’s stellar campaign.
In a September 2013 post, we summarized the key findings of Blackbaud’s Next Generation Study. Blackbaud just released a YouTube video about those findings.
The Conference Board Consumer Confidence Index®, which was down in February, rebounded in March. The Index now stands at 82.3, up from 78.3 in February.
According to Lynn Franco, Director of Economic Indicators at The Conference Board, “Consumer confidence improved in March, as expectations for the short-term outlook bounced back from February’s decline. While consumers were moderately more upbeat about future job prospects and the overall economy, they were less optimistic about income growth. The Present Situation index, which had been on an upward trend for the past four months, was relatively unchanged in March. Overall, consumers expect the economy to continue improving and believe it may even pick up a little steam in the months ahead.”
On March 14 at NTEN’s 2014 Nonprofit Technology Conference, the Integrated Marketing Advisory Board (IMAB) named the League of Women Voters of the United States a winner in its third annual Integrated Marketing Awards. The Integrated Marketing Awards recognized three nonprofit organizations that show exemplary leadership in the area of integrated marketing, and exemplify the sector’s successful use of integrated, multi-channel marketing campaigns or programs.
A nonpartisan political organization that encourages informed and active participation in government, The League won in the category called The Organization, demonstrating how an effort across the nonprofit aligned strategy, structure, culture, and skills to impact the organization’s ability to integrate its marketing efforts. The League was awarded this prestigious prize for creating a successful, broad-based marketing campaign involving all departments within the organization. To learn more about the League and the other winners, visit IMAB’s website.
Avalon congratulates all of our colleagues at the League for this well-deserved honor!
The Integrated Marketing Advisory Board (IMAB) just held its first annual The IMAB Virtual Marketing Conference for Nonprofits – a one-day, conference call conference with seven sessions and as IMAB put it, “A wealth of insights for nonprofits.”
The Conference was a huge success and IMAB has received terrific feedback from participants. So did you miss part or all of this inaugural Conference? Don’t worry – we’ll get you caught up. Click here for a full wrap-up (by IMAB guest bloggers) or view the session recordings at your convenience and share them with your colleagues.
On December 4th, Avalon held a special dedication ceremony for Ann Herzog, Avalon’s former President, Board Chair, and Co-Founder. Dedicated to Ann’s legacy, the Avalon conference room has been renamed, “The Ann Herzog Conference Room.” A plaque with Ann’s picture now hangs beside the entrance (photo on right).
In early 2013, Ann retired from Avalon, having achieved her founding vision of building a full-service, direct marketing fundraising agency that connects great causes to great people. As a direct marketer, Ann is widely respected for her messaging expertise and for pioneering multi-channel integration—a direct marketing strategy that has since evolved from cutting-edge philosophy to accepted best practice. In Avalon, Ann created a new kind of agency—one that not only delivers on quantitative objectives, but also prioritizes collaborative consulting, the long-term best interest of its clients, and a positive, sustainable culture for its staff.
Along with Ann and her Co-Founder Allison Porter, Avalon’s entire staff was in attendance to toast the occasion. We at Avalon know it has been our very good fortune to work for, collaborate with, and learn from Ann Herzog. The dedication ceremony was a wonderful occasion for us to show Ann our appreciation and recommit to her vision.
