Rick Malchow, Vice President and Director of Analytical Services

Rick Malchow has been helping nonprofit organizations analyze their direct marketing fundraising data for more than 15 years, using advanced statistical and data mining techniques. At Avalon, he heads up the Analytical Services division, which provides a range of reporting and analytics services as well as customized analytics interpretation and consulting. Rick's technical skills, combined with a deep understanding of direct marketing and fundraising, give clients the tools and guidance they need to probe deeper into their data and really understand what's going on with their donor files--critical knowledge in today's highly competitive fundraising environment.
Rick comes to Avalon from Craver Mathews Smith & Company, where he was Director of R&D for seven years. In this role, he oversaw all client reporting and analytics, ranging from retention and lifetime value analysis to more specialized data mining and trend analysis. He was previously VP of Operational Systems and Director of R&D at Adams Hussey & Associates, where he led a development team to create and implement innovative solutions to meet the agency's data reporting and statistical analysis needs.
When he's not mining data, you might see Rick sailing on the Chesapeake, taking in the most recent art exhibit at the Corcoran or checking out a new alternative rock band.
